Der Weg f\u00fchrte zun\u00e4chst ins St. Marks NWR und dann \u00fcber eine wenig spannende Interstate nach Pensacola:<\/p>\n
<\/iframe> <br \/><small><a style=\"text-align: left; color: #0000ff\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.at\/maps?f=q&hl=de&q=http:%2F%2Fwww.is.tuwien.ac.at%2Ffortec%2Fchb%2Ffotos%2Fusa2010%2F20101013.kmz&ie=UTF8&ll=30.410782,-85.506592&spn=4.547127,7.03125&z=7&source=embed\">Gr\u00f6\u00dfere Kartenansicht<\/a><\/small> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">In der Richtung hat man leider zuerst den Spa\u00df im NWR (National Wildlife Refuge) und dann mu\u00df man die Meilen schaffen. Aber geht halt nicht anders. Das St. Marks NWR ist ein recht gro\u00dfes Gebiet, aber an einer Stelle kann man mit dem Auto bis zu einem Leuchtturm fahren und man kommt sogar an einem Visitor Center vorbei.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Bevor die Reise jedoch los ging, mu\u00dfte ich in der Fr\u00fch feststellen, da\u00df es zwar nicht geregnet hat, aber der Morgentau ungef\u00e4hr gleich na\u00df war. Das hat eine Unzahl an Schnecken hervorgezaubert, auch auf mein Zelt:<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.chbworld.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/DSCF1609_re5B25D.jpg\" width=\"1024\" height=\"715\"> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Nur wenige Meilen sp\u00e4ter war ich beim Visitor Center des NWRs. Wundersch\u00f6ne B\u00e4ume mit Spanish Moss behangen stehen dort herum:<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.chbworld.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/DSCF1611_re5B25D.jpg\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\"> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Das Naturreservat ist ein global wichtiges Vogelreservat (die Urkunde h\u00e4ngt im Center). Daher ist dort im allgemeinen Birding das Hauptthema (w\u00f6rtlich \u00fcbersetzt V\u00f6geln. Klingt doch echt gut: \u2018Gehen wir in den Park zum V\u00f6geln\u2019). Das Gebiet s\u00fcdlich des Centers besteht aus mehreren Ponds (Teichen), die offensichtlich von V\u00f6geln geliebt werden. <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.chbworld.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/DSCF1613_1619_re5B25D.jpg\" width=\"1543\" height=\"350\"> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Alligatoren sollen dort auch rumschwimmen, gesehen habe ich keinen. Lag aber wohl auch daran, da\u00df es ziemlich warm war und ein Sonnenbad zum Aufheizen nicht notwendig war. Daf\u00fcr gab es einige h\u00fcbsche Seelilien:<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.chbworld.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/DSCF1622_re5B25D.jpg\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\"> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Auch an V\u00f6geln hat es nicht gemangelt. An manchen Stellen waren es ganze Scharen:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.chbworld.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/DSCF1623_re5B25D.jpg\" width=\"1024\" height=\"756\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.chbworld.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/DSCF1625_re5B25D.jpg\" width=\"1024\" height=\"782\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.chbworld.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/DSCF1630_re5B25D.jpg\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\"> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">\u00dcberraschend f\u00fcr mich kam jedoch eine ganz andere Gattung ins Spiel: Die Monarchfalterwanderung, die ich schon am Blue Ridge Pkwy gesehen hatte, ist hier am H\u00f6hepunkt. Darum wird auch jedes Jahr in dem NWR am 4. Samstag des Oktobers das Monarchfalterfest gefeiert. Tja, das habe ich um ein paar Tage verpa\u00dft, aber die Falter waren schon alle da. Habe ich mir den Rummel erspart UND das Eintrittsgeld, denn ich war in der Gratiswoche des Jahres dort (h\u00e4tte aber wahrscheinlich eh nix gekostet, denn ich habe den Jahrespa\u00df von allem Nationalzeugs). Dort treiben sich auch Pelikane herum:<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.chbworld.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/DSCF1648_re5B25D.jpg\" width=\"1024\" height=\"734\"> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Am Meer stand auch ein Mann mit einer Angelrute und er rief seine Frau, ob sie die Krabben schon gesehen hat. Sie geht runter und meint nur, nein, wo sind sie denn. Und er meint, kaum zu \u00fcbersehen, das sind keine Steine oder Seetang, das sind Krabben:<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.chbworld.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/DSCF1678_re5B25D.jpg\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\"> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Da waren Millionen von Krabben. Wenn man hingeht, f\u00e4ngt es zu Rascheln an, so viele Krabbenk\u00f6rper reiben da aneinander. Ich vermute, die leben von den kleineren, denn mein Fotomodell hat gerade an einem kleinen Krabbenarm gelutscht:<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.chbworld.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/DSCF1665_re5B25D.jpg\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\"> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Selbst unscheinbare Muscheln wandern dort \u00fcber den Strand:<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.chbworld.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/DSCF1669_re5B25D.jpg\" width=\"1024\" height=\"782\"> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Und die \u00fcberall zu bemerkenden kleinen L\u00f6cher im Sand, sind auch nicht unbewohnt:<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.chbworld.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/DSCF1670_re5B25D.jpg\" width=\"1024\" height=\"848\"> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Auf dem R\u00fcckweg habe ich noch beim Leuchtturm vorbeigeschaut:<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.chbworld.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/DSCF1707_re5B25D.jpg\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\"> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Wenn man hinter dem Turm auf den Strand geht (weil das Licht dort besser zum Fotographieren ist), wird man wieder von Millionen Krabben in Empfang genommen. Das Krabben (Crabbing) ist dort btw verboten. Also keine Krabbe fangen und essen. Wie schade, wo ich Krabben doch so mag (w\u00fcrg)!<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.chbworld.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/P1030380_re5B25D.jpg\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\"> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Nach einer St\u00e4rkung auf einem Picknickplatz an einem Pond, ging es auf die lange Autobahnfahrt in den Westen; Pensacola war das Ziel, nur wenige Fu\u00df von der Staatsgrenze entfernt.
